Plainfield Arts: Artistic Access to Indianapolis

Plainfield, Indiana
, a small suburb of Indianapolis, is the quiet site of Highway 40, which runs straight through downtown Plainfield. Since the community is so close to the capital of Indiana, it benefits from the creative think tank that is the Indianapolis arts community.

Plainfield arts lovers have easy access to the wealth of Indianapolis art museums and Indianapolis art galleries, including the Indianapolis Museum of Art, the Eiteljorg Museum, Hoosier Salon, Big Car Gallery, and more. Indianapolis artists sometimes come to Plainfield to take in the idyllic rural surroundings of the town.
The Plainfield arts community is not without its own resources, however. Plainfield is home to the Sketch Pad Art Studio, a gallery that features works of Plainfield artists in its halls. Sketch Pad also hosts classes, so Plainfield children and adults alike can learn how to paint, sculpt, and compose a beautiful work of art.

Though not quite a Plainfield art fixture, Chateau Thomas Winery is also located in Plainfield, Indiana. The tradition of wine making can be called an art in and of itself, and the growers at Chateau Thomas Winery have almost perfected it. The winery also has a wine club, so you can enjoy a glass of wine every time you look at a piece in your Plainfield home.

Despite being a small town in the shadow of Indianapolis, Plainfield art lovers have plenty to enjoy. Their town is just a short trip away from the wealth of Indianapolis society, Indianapolis music, and, above all, Indianapolis art.
